Diapason - collaboration with Alex Rigg

In 2018 I, along with my classmates, collaborated with Alex Rigg of Oceansallover to create costumes for his original piece 'Diapason'.

I was given the brief to create an adaptable costume which could be worn by any performer or audience member. I was given the poem Folk by Alex Rigg as the inspiration for my costume. The poem tells of a fiddler and a piper playing to each other. I used motifs from the instruments and the intertwining of the duet throughout my costume. I used red against a grey background to signify the melody singing through the music. The straps of the chaps twist around the wearers' body as do the hand-made ropes. The sleeves are made of a concertina and inspired by the shape of a violin.

This costume is made from entirely repurposed and second hand materials.
