In my first year of university I designed puppets for a hypothetical production of Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach. I then went on to make this puppet for the character Aunt Spiker. Aunt Spiker, James' Aunt, is a stern woman who is cold and unempathetic. Her puppet is tall thin and in cool colours.

She is made of a thin foam backed with card, each piece was covered in fabric and then stitched together. She has three moving parts: her legs move so she walks as the puppeteer does; one arm shakes disapprovingly; and her head moves so she can peer down at James through her glasses.
